I used my prismacolor pencils on everything bar the buttlerfly. I used Twinkling H2O's on the butterfly just to give it some shimmer. I glued the body down so I could bend the wings up. I also drew the feelers on as I am not that great at cutting really fine details. TFL

I went through my scrap folder & discovered these scraps that I had forgotten about. I love the paper behind the owl. I decided to use the negative of a nestible cut out to frame up the Owl. I think this works well for a guy's card. I have a few male birthdays comming up, so I'm trying to get a head on making them.

Who are you, whoo, whoo........

Hi all,

As you can probably guess I have been to The Who concert held in Brisbane on Tuesday night!!! It was an awesome experience :-D. My wonderful dh & I went together. We had a brilliantly fantastic time, our tickets where for the floor. We where 26 rows away from the stage. I still couldn't see much though lol. Every one stood up as soon as the band started playing so that meant I got really good views of the backs of peoples' heads (yes I'm vertically challenged). I could also see a little of Pete Townsend & the drummer Zac (who is Ringo Starr's son). I didn't see Roger Daultry at all, but man can he ever sing. I thought there where only four people on stage till I saw the news the next night & discovered there where actually six of them up there. Can you tell I don't know much about the band? It didn't matter though, the music was fantastic even the songs I didn't know. They got on at 9pm & didn't finish till after 11pm. The Who had two supporting acts, Counting Crows & another band that I can't remember the name of. I tell you for a band that has been around since the early 60's they are amazing. They would have to be fitter than most people I know. The only strange thing that happened to me was a guy behind me asked if I had any "Reefer". I had to dissappoint him. My dh thought it was so funny. Well I guess you can never tell who's into that sort of thing these days. I am silly enough without the benifit of illegal substances & that's the way I'm gonna stay. As I always say "I'm not evil just misunderstood" *grin*. Well I'm off to my nice comfy bed now so I can get up & create "beautiful" cards in the morning. Take care & have a wonderful weekend....

Plus this stamp Chrysanthemum (DD005) from Kaiser stamp suited one of the challenges that I am entering this card into ;). I am entering this card into two challenges. The first is Card Patterns, this card is based on this weeks' sketch. The second challenge is for Cuttlebug Challenges, to use up scraps. This card suits both challenges. So thanks for looking & have a great weekend.

Scrappy boat birthday & some great news!

This card is for this weeks Cuttlebug Challenge, plus a friend's little boy is having a birthday today. This week's challenge was to make cards out of scraps, so that's exactly what I have done. I grabbed different coloured off cuts of bazzil & ran them through my c/bug. I had some stickers left over from other projects as well. I thought the D'vine swirl made great waves for this boat. I cut around the top of the blue to make the waves more realistic & then kindyglitzed them. I then chalked the Happy Birthday so it would stand out better & used Twinkling H2O's on the cake. Finally I ran the orange bazzil through the mosaic folder just for some more texture & then cut down a black card base & put it all together.

I have found out some wonderful news as well. I am going to have my froggy card on the Cuttlebug website on the 18th of March. I can't believe it!!! I had to read the comment more than once before it actually sank in. I thought my frogs where special (they now have pride of place on my bookshelf) but this is a lovely bonus. So thank you so much to the lovely people at Cuttlebug Challenges. You guys ROCK!!!

The only thing that wasn't at my desk where the three flowers I used. I usually have a problem with ripping paper (I'm strange I know). So I really went all out on doing something different. I even (shock horror) used my sewing machine :). But I think it is worth it.

On a side note I'd love to be able to post a pic of this week's challenge sketch but have no idea how to. Sorry everyone you will just have to click on the link :-P.

Orginally I was just going to stick the frogs down flat, but then the creative juices kicked in & this is what happened. I decided I will enter this into the Cuttlebug challenge for this week (hope I am not to late). It's to use glitter on a card. So I have Kindyglitzed all the blue scallops (to mimic water). I also used Hero Arts Clear Sparkle embossing powder over the "puddle" just to give it more of a water feel. I have also put Kindyglitz on the flowers as well. Russian Dolls

Russian Dolls
Originally uploaded by pajalu (Paula)

Hi all,

This is it. The card I promised you earlier. I had a great time making this card. It all started with the actual stamps of the Russian dolls. I decided they had to be stamped together (which is simular to my "real" dolls) then I had no idea what to do with them....until I saw the HA challenge for this week. I just had a ball making this card. I used my old fav's Twinkling H2O's for the large areas of colour & my new fav's prismacolor pencils for the smaller areas of colour. TFL

New Challenge, New Pencils, New Stamps, New Group.

Hi all,

I thought I would just write today as I am waiting for my new card to dry. I promise to upload it here once it's ready. I got the inspiration for this card on the Hero Arts blog. This weeks' challenge is all about shapes. Card shapes that is, so it will be a fun & interesting week.

Guess what I got yesterday! I finally got my hands on a pack of Prismacolor pencils. I am in heaven, I had no idea that pencils could be like that. I haven't had much of a chance to play with them yet. But the little time that I have I loved. I also got my Hero Arts stamps off layby, Yay!!!! I have been playing with them. In fact I was using the new stamps & pencils together. I am also trying out the Gamsol technique. If you don't know what I am talking about it's using odourless mineral spirits & paper stumps to blend coloured pencils. Hero Arts has a video on this technique on their website.

I have joined the Twopeas website. Boy is that a confusing place or what. I still don't know what I am doing. I have been reading the threads on the Hero Arts flickr group, but they don't even make any sense to me. I am such a non techno person!! I have trouble following things that are written down. If someone shows me then I seem to be ok, but following written directions I am hopeless. I am still struggling with getting this blog to the way I would like it lol.

Well thats enough from me now, so Happy crafting every one :-D

Card Pattern Challenge sketch #5

Card Pattern Challenge sketch #5

Kraft card base
LP128 Artistic Windows by Hero Arts
CL173 Simple messages by Hero Arts
Basic Grey Pattern Papers
Assorted flowers & buttons
String
Pearls

This card has a softer look in real life. The photo isn't the best as I took it late this afternoon. I have a close up of the rectangle in a rectangle on my flickr photostream here http://www.flickr.com/photos/pajalucrafts/3337507722/ TFL

Coloured pencils
Foam mounting tape
Unknown stamp :( (sorry about that)
Versafine - Onyx Black
Versafine - Vintage Sepia

This is a very quick card to make. The hardest part is cutting out the stamped images. But I think it's worth it :). I coloured her dress in an olive green to go with the background & I coloured the flowers in a light blue to match the flowers on the patterned paper. TFL

Frustrated to the max!!!

Hi all,

Well today I have been frustrated to the back teeth with this blog. I know a good craft person never blames her tools, but why can't they (who ever they are) make computing easy for us dummies. Surely I'm not the only one. I found a site through my flickr group that lets you put pictures onto your blog for the very top bit (I think it's called a banner). I just love how people have done their blogs with all this nice stuff. So I thought I could give this ago. But after wasting a coulple of hours on it & getting a lot annoyed I've given up. I think I will have to get computing lessons from a 10 yr old, I'm sure they will know more than me.

But on a brighter note, I did manage to get the blinkie up, sort of. No idea on how to shrink it just a little. I did try to follow the instructions on the Hero Arts flikr group, but to no avail. It either shrinks it to a very thin line or not at all. Oh well at least it is there. As Brian sings "Always look on the bright side of life" (insert whistling here).

Well I'm off to make some more cards, Happy Crafting & thanks for visiting :-D

Happy Birthday in BasicGrey

Happy Birthday in BasicGrey
Originally uploaded by pajalu (Paula)

Hi all,

I am trying really hard to post from my flickr photostream to my blog. Lets just say this isn't my first attempt :(. Fingers crossed this one works.

I was asked to make three cards for a lady who works at my LSS (local scrapbooking store) simular to some cards that I had made previously. Since I have a lot of trouble doing the same thing twice this isn't exactly the same as the card it was based on. I actually prefer this card to be honest. I am really happy with the way it has turned out. I love this range of Basic Grey papers, they are fast becoming one of my all time favourites. Well I'm off to make another card. Have a great weekend

Hello & welcome

Hi all,

I would like to welcome you all to my blog. I am still learning, so please be patient with me. At the moment I'm trying to blog some of my cards from my flickr photostream. So fingers crossed I can get that worked out. Next I'm going to try & get myself a blinkie from the Hero Arts website. For those of you who don't know about Hero Arts, they are a fantastic stamp company based in the USA. They have a wonderful range of stamps, along with a blog & great contests each week. So do yourself a favour & go check them out at www.heroarts.com you wont be disappointed. Now I'm off to do battle with the computer over the blinkie & photos. Wish me luck ;-P
