CCC - Arlene :D

Hi all,

Well as you may or may not know I joined Deborah's CCC (Card Chain Challenge) & yesterday I got these two wonderful cards from the very lovely Arlene :D. Am I lucky or what!!!

The Boo card is for the challenge as we had a choice of sketch, colours or a theme to work from. The Shoe card is a just because card. I love them both so they are going to go onto my cube bookcase, along with all my other card treasures (I think it's my version of the "Pool room" from the Castle).

Have a great day/night & thanks for stopping by & for your lovely comments.

A card for Lantie

Hi all,

This is a card I made last night for my niece's b'day in October. I am hoping that she will love it. As she seems to be a bit of a nature girl. I decided to base this card on two challenges. Penny Black's colour challenge of Chocolate, lemon & pink. The second is a sketch challenge at Carol's Sketch Fun, which I discovered through Kath's blog. So thank you Kath :D.

As usual I am using up my scraps. Although the chocolate piece was cut from a brand new piece of Kaisercraft Dutchess collection paper. Naughty I know. But other than the basic brown bazil, it is all I had. I used watercolour paper & my Prisma colour pencils with a Copic blender pen on the stamped image. Just in case you haven't heard of this technique here is what I do. I colour my image using Lisa Spanglers tips then I use a Copic colourless blender to go over the coloured image. It seems to help the colours blend together better. Or I could just be doing it wrong ;). I use this method on lots of my cards not just with the watercolour paper. Well I am going to do some of that dreaded house work so I'd better go. Have a great day/night & thanks for stopping by & your lovely comments - TTFN

Last Caardvark Sketch Challenge :(

Hi all,

Are you all as disappointed as I am that this week's sketch challenge is over at Caardvarks? I have had such fun trying to do all the sketches & can't beflieve that the week is already over.

I really had fun making this card today. Mainly because it's extremely simple. The hardest part was deciding which colours to use. I made the flower by using three of nestibilities scallops & cutting between the "bumps". I then cut out a flower centre from some Basic Grey pattern paper. I used a brad to hold the flower together. Thanks for stopping by & for your lovely comments :D. TTFN

Friday's Caardvark Sketch

Hi all,

Well I can't bellieve it's friday already, can you? Actually it's Saturday where I am, I'm just a tad late posting my sketch cards. I have done two for Friday's sketch challenge. I do like both of them, but am not sure that they are ok for the challege. As I have turned the flower card sort of sideways & the butterfly isn't as defined (with the 3 square shapes) as I would have liked. Oh well I guess I'm always going to be my own worst critic.

Three Flowers
I made the background on the flower card using my mini misters & Vivid re-inkers & a dash of Perfect Pearls. Which I randomly sprayed over white card. Once it was dry I then used Versamark ink & my all time fav background stamp Dots & Flowers (from Hero Arts)to add some interest. The flowers where stamped onto watercolour paper & then I used watercolour pencils & an aqua brush to colour the images. After that all dried I went over the flowers & leaves with Diamond Glaze.

Butterfly
For the this card I inked the edges of the background paper with Tim Holz Faded Jeans I then stamped the branch in Versafine Spanish Moss, the butterfly in Versafine Onyx Black twice (once onto white c/s so I could raise the wings).I coloured the branch with Prisma colour pencils as well as the butterfly. I then used Diamond Glaze on the butterfly to give it a nice sheen. I added buttons to the centers of the flowers. The tag was inked with Tim Holtz Broken China & then stamped with a Hero Arts stamp.

As always thank you all so much for stopping by & leaving such wonderful comments :D. TTFN

Just a share

Hi all,

Just a share tonight. I made these cards with more of my scraps. I always find it so satisfying when I make something really pretty out of left over bits of paper. I guess it's the patchworker in me.

I have made a card tonight for the latest sketch over at Caardvark's. I am just waiting for the Diamond Glaze to dry. Although I think it's a pretty card I am just not sure it will be good enough for the challenge so I might just have to make another one (just in case).

Have a great night & thank you for visiting & for your wonderful comments - TTFN

Caardvark Challenge - Owl & Blossoms

Are you all enjoying the latest Caardvark challenges as much as I am?

I decided to use some of my handmade coloured backgrounds for this card. I used Vivid Olive & Spring Green re-inkers & Perfect Pearls to make the green background. I then stamped a Hero Art's BG stamp in versamark & embossed with green, to give it a lift. The Blue piece had a stamped image on it already so I just Fussy cut around it. I used Tim Holtz Distress inks Broken China & Faded Jeans & then lightly sprayed it with a combo of Vivid Corn Flower & Perfect Pearls. I have used Diamond Glaze on all the flowers as well as some pearls. I raised the owl & flower flourish up on popdots. I used my Prisma Colour Pencils on the flowers & owls.

All the images on this card are from friends ;). I used the Owl & branch from Helen & the three flowers & flourish from Lucy. So thank you both so much.

Have a wonderful night/day & thank you for visiting & for your lovely comments - TTFN

Yesterday was a good day. My friend Helen & I caught up & we had a great time together. We did some colouring in & I used my image to make this card. It's for the latest Caardvark challenge sketch here. As you can see I am still using up my BG papers. I just love them so much. Maybe tomorrows (later on today) sketch might inspire me to use different things, who knows! The image is from Penny Black & the sentiment is from Hero Arts. Hi all,

Well I'm doing it again. Combining two challenges in the one card. Although I'm not sure if this will be ok on the latest Caardvark sketch. The other challenge is over at the Hero Arts Blog, which is to use a photo on your card. Which up till today I have never done. This photo was left over from doing some scrapbooking pages, so I cut it down to fit.

Again I have used my scraps of Basic Grey papers on this card. Em was being a poser (we where trying to get "nice" first day at school photos ;D) & the sentiment just popped into my head. I wanted to make photo cards for her Grandad & Papa as they both have b'days early in October. I am hoping that this card is guyish enough! Have a great night/day, thanks for popping in & for your wonderful comments - TTFN.

Celebrate - One card Two challenges

Celebrate

Hi all,

This little card is for two challenges, The Caardvark sketch here & the Penny Black Lace & Pearl challenge here. I just love that I could combine these two challenges, I really wanted to do the Penny Black challenge but had no idea on where to begin so when I saw the sketch from Caardvark I knew that I was all set.

I borrowed some of my friend Helen's Penny Black stamps & when I saw that this stamp had a cherry on it I thought that it would go really well with my Basic Grey Lemonade scraps. Well it's getting late & I'm probably not making sense so will go to bed now. As always thanks for stopping by ;) & for your wonderful comments - TTFN

A MeMe award from Donna

Hi all

I have been given an award from the very lovely Donna who's blog is here. It's called the "MeMe award" & the rules are very simple. I have to divulge 7 secrets about myself and pass this award on to 7 others. Well I don't really have any secrets, so I guess I will do what Donna has done & tell you 7 things about me (yes you probably really don't need to know).

1. I am trying to "blackmail" my dh at the moment (insert evil laugh). I told him I want a dog or a baby. So far no sign of either, but it's early days yet!!!!

2. I've decided my 3 yr old is going to be the death of me (very soon). Who knew that they could be so arguementative!!!

3. If I could do anything in the world I would make cards & quilts to give away to charities/people in need.

4. I am trying to lose weight (aren't we all *wink*) so I can beat my genes, Diabetes runs in my family.

5. I am a Coke a Cola junkie........I've tried to give it up a few times.

6. The girliest film I own "While you where sleeping" with Sandra Bullock & Bill Pullman. All my other fav's are either scifi, action or comicbook movies.

7. I still play my playstation 2 & my favourite games are any of the Ratchet & Clank games & the first two Jak & Dakstar games. I would love to get a playstation portable ;)

"Whew" glad that's over with as painful as that was ;). I would love to give this award to the following in no particular order:

Hannah

Lucille
Arlene
Kathy
Dotty Jo
Del

Dragonfly sneek peek

I thought I would share a sneek peek at a card I made recently for some one special ;). I promise to post the card once the person has recieved this card.

I just love the way this dragonfly turned out. I salvaged him from a card that I did at a take & make (the orginal card was a disaster trust me). I decided to use my H2O's on him just to give him that sheen dragonflies always seem to have. I used Iridescent Purple on his wings & Chestnut Brown for his body.

I have also been working on some LO's that I got in a kit. They are made with Basic Grey papers & embelishments. I am hoping to take some photos of them soon to share. I just love the way these have turned out. Happy crafting everyone & thank you for your lovely comments - TTFN

Look at what Em & I got in the mail :D

Hi all,

Firstly I would like to say I'm sorry Linda :( for taking so long to post pictures of your cards. Would you believe me if I said I couldn't find the camera till now? Honestly how a camera can go walkabout is beyond me, it must have been gremlins!!!

Em & I got these two lovely cards in the mail the week before last. From the very talented Linda aka Oz. It was a wonderful surprise to recieve these in the mail :D. Especially as that particular day was rather stressful. I just love these cards!!! Em's card is the Pink & chocolate card & my card has the fish & kitty on it. I have to say I just think those fish are so cute as is the kitty (of course).

So if you want to see more wonderful cards & LO's I would suggest heading over to Linda's flickr stream here & while you are there maybe leave her a wonderful comment or two ;).

CCC 1st card challenge

CCC 1st card challenge
Originally uploaded by pajalu (Paula)

Hi all,

I have joined a Card chain challenge (CCC) that the very lovely Deborah has started. You can find out more about it here :). I made this card this afternoon. I am hoping that it's ok to post a picture of it before it gets sent.

To be in this challenge we had three options, of which we could use all three or any one of them. For this challenge we had a sketch, a colour theme & theme of get well soon or encourgagement. I chose to do a bit of all three. I decided on the sketch as my starting point & then tried to add as much of the other two options as I could. The colours where the hardest part for me :).

For this card I used the following:

Cream shimmer card base
Bazzil dot papers in yellow & brown
White cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress inks in Peeled Paint & Shabby Shutters
Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
Hero Arts CL173 Simple Messages
Hero Arts G4337 Flourish Flower
Kaisercraft Pearls
Kaisercraft flowers
Bronze brads
Prismacolour Pencils
Copic blender
Nestibilities Label Four
Cuttlebug

Thanks for stopping by & your lovely comments :D they are really appreciated. TTFN

Scraps, scraps & some cards

Hi all,

Well today is just a share :D. A few weeks ago I was sick of my scraps "breeding"!!! So I decided that something needed to be done with them. As you can see I got four really good cards from this one pile of scraps. I particularly like the one with PA on it as all I did was lay those strips across the card base & stamped on one strip.

In Australia we celebrate Fathers' day on the first Sunday of September, so that was what motivated me to use up my "manly" scraps.

I am planning on doing this again for some of my christmas cards as I have a massive amount of christmas paper scraps to use up.

Have a great day, thanks for the lovely comments & visiting TTFN

Heart's Desire

Hi all,

Well I got an order late Tuesday for an engagement, 50th wedding anniversary & a 56th wedding anniversary cards. So I have been madly creating for the last couple of days & these are just a few of the cards that I made :) as I like to give people choices. I have posted all of the cards I made on my flickrstream here. I used the latest Penny Black challenge Heart's Desire as my starting point.

I mainly used my scraps for these cards. I only wish my papers would stop breeding faster than I can use them. I am slowly reducing my "piles" of bits. Thank you all so much for stopping by & leaving such wonderful comments - TTFN.

Ever After

Ever After
Originally uploaded by pajalu (Paula)

Hi all,

Well I've been asked to make an engagement card, 50th wedding anniversary & a 56th wedding anniversary card. All by tomorrow & I found out last night, so I guess I have a really busy day ahead of me. As I like to make more than one card so that the person has a choice.

So of course I had to have a quick search of my supplies to see what I had on hand & this is what I came up with for my first card. I was going to try & make this shabby chic so I could enter it into the latest Shabby chic challenge at Let's get Shabby, but I don't think I've done it some how. As much as I love that style I have so much trouble doing it.

Well I had better get going & make at least two more cards while my dh & dd are visiting dh's mother for the morning. Have a great day & thanks for all your wonderful comments. TTFN

Helen's Owl & Gift box

Hi all,

Well as promised here are two photo's of Helen's Pressie :D. What do you think? Pretty cool huh (not blowning my own horn much am I *wink*), I gave these to Helen today when she came over for our weekly crafty get together. Even though her b'day was on Monday. I made the gift box & inside I put the cloth Owl, the card owl & some instructions on how to make that particular gift bag, a bon bon box, a mini album & a christmas canvas.

Helen & I had a fantastic time today doing our thing swapping stamps, books, ideas etc... We get together nearly every week & have a blast. For me it's been great as I don't have a lot of friends that share this passion for craft ;D. I always come away from our time together feeling happier, inspired & relaxed. We just get on that well.

The gift box is made up from kraft paper for the base, pattern paper for the sides & because this box is a larger size I had to use two sheets of pattern paper. The bottom "lace" is Bazzil dot that I punched with the Threading Water punch by Fiskars.

The card is made from the leftovers from the box. Which as you all know I love to do. I am finding using up my scraps so theraputic & cost affective ;D.

The owl is made up from fabric out of my stash. I used up scraps & some newer fabrics. I used poly fibre for the stuffing & two buttons from my button stash. I also used DMC stranded cotton for the details on the owls eyes.

Happy Birthday Helen

Posted by Picasa

Hi all,

I thought I would post a picture of this cute owl card that I made for my friend Helen's b'day. It was her b'day on Monday but she is coming over to "play" tomorrow so I will give it to her then. I have also made her an Owl toy, & a gift box. All of which I know she will just love to bits.

I knew there must be a reason why as a patchwork/quilter I like paper craft so much :D. They are basically the same. You can adapt patterns to cards & stamps to patterns. This owl card is adapted from a pattern to make a stuffed owl toy. I just love the way this card has turned out. I am using leftover papers from the gift box I made to put the owl & some instructions on how to make bon bon boxes, a mini album, a gift box & a canvas. I will post some more pictures tomorrow, of the rest.

A quick note too - to say a huge thank you for the lovely comments of support for me & Em on her first day of Daycare/preprep. Just to let you know she had a blast & threw a massive tantrum all the way from the daycare building to our house. All because she wanted to stay. Em wouldn't tell me how her day went or get out of the car when we got home. Luckily her Daddy has a knack of calming her down. So eventually she told us that she had a wonderful day. Thank you all for the lovely comments & have a wonderful day/night TTFN
