Gus on Christmas

Hi Lovelies,

How are you all going?  I'm keeping busy.  I have just finished two of my DT cards & can't wait to show you all.  On Wednesday I will be introduced over on the Try Stampin' On Tuesday blog.  Please come on by & meet every one.  I am so looking forward to working with these lovely & talented ladies & I hope that some of you will play along as well.

But in the meantime you will just have to settle for a Christmas card.  I'm trying really hard to get a heap of them done.  The other day I printed out a heap of Digi images from Make it Crafty, Saturated Canary & Bugaboo onto Copic paper.  So today in amongst laundry, kid wrangling, school drop off/pick up & sending the dh to watch the girls at the pool I managed to colour a heap of images.  Now all I have to do is put them onto cards.  So here is one card that did get made.  I used up left over pp from Holly Jolly Christmas by Echo Park.

I'm still having issues with my sizing for the Digi images.  But I did learn how to link two images together & am finally getting the sentiments around the right size.  I figure angling the Nestibility makes Gus look like he's reclining more.  I added Frosted Lace Stickles to where all the fur is suppose to be & added Glossy Accents to his glasses. Just to make them more realistic.  I am slowly getting the hang of shadows using my Copics.

Well I'm off to bed it's nearly midnight yet again & I have to get up early in the morning.  Have a great week.

Dash 'er Red

Hi Lovelies,

This is my second post for today.  I have some wonderful news in the previous post so please scroll down or go here to see it.  Thank you.

Tonight I would like to share a card that I made for two challenges.  I used this sketch from Try Stampin' On Tuesday & this colour challenge from Red Carpet Studio.  The colour challenge was to use Black & white  (one accent colour may be used).  I decided I needed to make more Christmas cards & thought that a black/white card would be interesting.  I added the Red just for that pop of colour.  I'm really pleased with how it has turned out.

Thank you all for visiting & I hope you have a wonderful week.

Some news & what I've been up to

Hi Lovelies,

Today I have some exciting news to share with you all :o).  I made the design team for Try Stampin' On Tuesdays!  How exciting is that!  Ok not so much of the exciting for all of you, but trust me I'm doing a Happy Dance over here!!!!  I told my dh & he's like meh.  Told one of my non-blogging buddies when I found out & she's like WOOOO HOOO!!!!  Family gotta love 'em ;o).

So what else have I been up to?  Well I went to my first crafty group on Sunday with Helen.  She invited me & I had a wonderful time.  I didn't take cards, instead I took a Mug Rug I needed to finish binding for one of Emsy's teachers.

I machine appliquéd the balloon & machine quilted this Mug Rug.  I'm not much for hand sewing, mainly because I don't have a lot of time for it with a two & a half year old monsta kidlet running around.  I got most of the binding done at the  craft group & managed to finish the rest last night.

I also made some of these super yummy & very easy to make Mini Puddings.  They are so easy to make & if you go here you can make some too ;o).  I've made them for at least the last 3 Christmases & the girls love to "help".  They are fantastic to take along to parties, dinners etc at this time of year.  The only thing I find is, if you live in a hot climate like I do.  It's best to keep them in the fridge until you are ready to serve them up.

Then when I got home I attempted to make these cute snowmen for Emsy's class today.  Here is our version.  I figure for a first attempt they turned out pretty good.  Next time I think I will try putting the marshmallows into the freezer for a bit first then adding copha to the white chocolate so it's more like Ice Magic.  I had all sorts of troubles getting the marshmallows to stay on the sticks after dipping them into the chocolate. The parents probably hate me for dosing their kids up with sugar, but I got heaps of thank you's from the kids this afternoon & Emsy loved giving them out.

So that's it from me today.  I'm off to start tea in a minute.  Let's hope I don't try to burn my house down again!  Tupperware & stoves don't mix - go figure ;o)

Happy Crafting everyone xoxoxo

Second Chances

Hi Lovelies,

This is my second blog post for today.  Please scroll down or go here to see it :o).

I really hated this card.  I had a wonderful idea in my head but it didn't translate well to paper.  So when I saw this challenge over at A Blog Named Hero, I knew exactly which card I wanted to re-do.  I love this flourish stamp, to me it is very elegant.  So I wanted to do it justice.

I think this is at least 100 times better ;o).  I decided to keep it simple.  So I  stamped the flourish with VersaMark ink & then added Hot set powder & heat set it before adding Golden Sunset Glitter & hitting it with the heat gun again.  I then added some Kaisercraft Gems in a similar colour.  I also added the sentiment (& got it straight!) with the last 2 gems.  I used some pp from Just Believe 6 x 6 pad by Kaisercraft.  I mounted it onto black c/s before adding it to a white card base.  I will also be adding this to the latest Hero Arts challenge as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Summery Christmas

Hi Lovelies,

I have been a little busy since the scramble, just day to day stuff.  But I've also been getting up earlier in the morning.  So this morning I managed to half do a card before Emsy woke up & I had to get her ready for school.   I decided to make an "Aussie" style Christmas card today.  So didn't use the traditional colours as much.

The very lovely & talented Alice sent me a 6 x 6 pad of Darling Bear by My Mind's Eye awhile ago now & I have finally gotten the courage up to use some of it.  I am really pleased with how this card turned out.  I added a Mini Notelet  by Upikit.  I stamped the bird onto the notelet & added a hand drawn branch to it, before colouring it in with Copics.  I made this card using the latest TSOT challenge sketch here.  They are also calling for people to submit for a position on their Design Team, you can find out more about it here.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great weekend

I've been a Scramblin'

Hi Lovelies,

*Ok this is going to be an extremely long post.  I mean it, really, really long.  Go get yourself a cut lunch & a Thermos.  Settle in & hopefully enjoy ;o)

Are you all worn out yet?  I'm still standing (well sitting actually) ;o).  Oh what fun was had over at the Hero Arts Flickr group over the weekend.  The very lovely & talented Hannah organised a 24 hour Scramble, so everyone could take part in.  If you would like to see all the threads, cards & comments just go to this thread & then follow the links.  There is talk of holding another one, which I will definitely try to play along with.

For me the scramble started at a nice time 10.30 am on Saturday.  Which meant I got to play in almost all of the scrambles.  I missed out on 3 of them, but was very tempted to stay up & do them.  I just couldn't do that to my kids & dh.  Maybe if the girls where a lot older I would have.

So here are my cards from the scramble:
Scramble No 1 was hosted by Hannah, who had a theme of "Green or Friendship Card".  As long as your card had green on it or was about friendship & had a least one Hero Arts stamp/digi image it was in the scramble.

I made two cards (for most of the challenges).  The Thank you card is my favourite, I just adore how the background turned out.

Scramble No 2 was hosted by Judy who  challenged us to do Christmas Thank you cards:  I won that challenge :o) which shocked me as I was just happy to be playing along.

I will let you decide which of these two was the winner.  As the draw was for one person per challenge, but we could enter as many times as we wanted to.  Some ladies where so talented they made 3 cards in the 90 minutes (amazing crazy talent I say!).  I kinda love the second card, I think it's all that bling lol.

Scramble No 3 was hosted by Rachelle with the theme of a Get well card with one or all of the following.  Make it for a child, add a button, & or include 3 textures.

I really liked this challenge, because I had to push myself.  As I like to try & do as many of the themes as possible.  I figure the first card would suit a teenager boy?  The second a little girl.

Marcy had Scramble No 4.  Her theme(s) was use a Border punch on the edge only & use a Hero Arts stamp/digi image.  I only managed the one card as it was dinner, bath & bedtime for the girls.  I actually brought some of my crafty stuff upstairs (3 trips) so I could play along whilst supervising the kidlets.

For Scramble No 5 we had the lovely Cecilia & her theme(s) where to make a Christmas card without gold & silver but still have it glitter.  Again I only managed the one card.  As I was still doing the mummy thing ;o).  I used liquid pearls for the custard, red pearls for the berries & Holly Stickles on the leaves of the plum pudding (from Kaisercraft) then I added gems to the flourish. I just wish I could stamp straight *sigh* that sentiment is bugging me!

Scramble No 6 was hosted by the lovely Janet (swanlady21).  Her theme was to include a tag on your card.

I actually made three cards for this challenge, but only uploaded two of them.  I made two of the above card as part of Emsy's teachers gifts.  The other card has a red border & tag.  I really like them for thank you cards for the teachers.  After that I was stuck in Christmas mode & made this card.  I'm slowly going through all my Kaisercraft pearls & gems.  I have tons of half used packets!  This is such a great way to use them up.

Linda hosted Scramble No 7.  Linda used Repeated Stamping as her theme.

I nearly didn't do this challenge, I was getting tired & honestly didn't know what to do.  I started off by thinking I'd stamp a heap of butterflies, then it was cupcakes.  Finally I settled on the candle card.  Once I had that uploaded I still had time so it was a mad scramble (excuse the pun) to find another stamp  to use.  When I came across this older Hero Arts stamp that I haven't used in ages.  So I stamped it straight onto a card base, trimmed it up & coloured in the centre image.  In hindsight, I should have used Copic paper & layered it onto the base as the colour seeped through.  Not hard to fix, so alls good.

Then it was off to bed for me as it was 12.30 am.  Doug got home just before the challenge ended so I even got to spend a little time with him.  Which was nice.  While I slept, scrambles 8, 9 & 10 happened.  I woke up just after 5.30 am (I'd set my alarm for 5.50 am) so got up, grabbed a coffee, my phone & trusty laptop & headed back down stairs to play once again.  While I waited for scramble 11 to start I tried to catch up on commenting on all the scrambles I'd missed.  I am planning on making at least one card for each of the scrambles I missed out on, hopefully this week.

Scramble 11 was held by the very talented & gorgeous Barb!  The theme for this was to use three different pp (including b/g stamps) & of course a stamped/digi image.

I really enjoyed this challenge.  I think I went a little crazy for the first scramble of the morning or maybe it was the caffeine kicking in.  Either way I am happy with my two cards.  I really like these Distress Inks.  I used Festive Berries & Evergreen Bough.  I love my distress inks.  Can you tell?  I also love my new Christmas Bauble die from Memory Box.  I think I will be using it a lot.

Finally scramble No 12 was hosted by Janet (Jintyoo7) & fittingly the theme for this scramble was time.

I really struggled with this theme.  But am happy that I stuck at it.  I got the idea to use these flowers as fireworks from seeing it done somewhere else (I'm thinking from Dawn?).  I added some more gems to the centres for extra sparkle & then found some number stickers in my stash to add to the sentiment.  You can't see it very well, but I also used my favourite b/g stamp Envelope with Tumbled Glass distress ink first.
The next card I kept it very simple.  I stamped the background again with the envelope stamp in Pumice stone distress ink.  Adding the clock ( from The Paperie Girl) & another Hero Arts sentiment.  I used scraps from Twilight florals for the border & behind the clock.  I coloured the clock in with Copics.

They are all my cards.  I am sorry for the extra long post tonight.  Thanks for sticking with me & I hope I have inspired you to join in the next one.  Have a great week

Dad my hero

Hi lovelies,

Well I made this card a few days ago & have only just had a chance to upload it.  I will explain why in a later  post.   This card is for Red Carpet Studio's latest theme.  Their challenge is to make a masculine card.  I am not sure if this fits in with their theme but thought I'd enter it anyway.  Since it would be perfect to give to that special dad in your life.

First of all here is a close up of the background I added some sparkle to it with Pearl ex & water after using some Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  Irl it looks a lot like suede.

I downloaded this cute cowboy from the web.  I forgot where I got him from :(.  I then added some stickers & die cut a smaller frame, went around the edge of it with a Copic. Hey Presto a simple easy manly card.

Thanks for stopping by - have to run the kids want me ;o)

Dino rawr!

Hi lovelies,

Today I have a Mojo Monday sketch inspired card to share.

I found some scraps of Dino paper & decided to use this cute stamp. I tried to use similar colours to the  pattern paper, to colour in the image.  I also used my colourless blender to add some dots to the back of the orange dino the boy is holding.  But it doesn't seem to show up that well.  This card is large at 6 x 6 inches.  I did deviate from the sketch a little by adding the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Art Journal.

Hi,

Today I want to share something.  I have started an Art Journal.  I was inspired by Anne Gaal.  I have been a fan of Anne's for some time & love to see what she has to share with us.  A few weeks back Anne had a competition on Art Journals which is here.  It inspired me to actually start one.  So far I have about six pages filled & today I want to share three of them with you all.  They are using the same digi image from my post yesterday. I wanted to try out some colour combinations using my Copics.  I have been wanting to do this for ages & ages now.  I started by printing off two pages (11 images) of Boobie Love  from my printer onto Copic paper (not sure of the brand).  Then I die cut them out with my trusty 'Bug & nesties.   After that I got my Copic board up & just started colouring or trying combinations I thought might look good together.  I didn't exactly match up some colour combos as I don't have all those colours (yet!).  I found it quiet relaxing, & rewarding.  My shading & blending also improved & now I have a few "go to" colour combinations that I know I will be doing again.  Others not so much ;o).

I have stuck them into this blank spiral bound note book so that I can stand it up on it's ends & use it like a flip book. That way I can glance up as I need to with out trying to find some way of keeping the book upright.

I have just started using this new Copic paper & am loving how smooth it is.  The paper I was using  before was nice, thick & had a slight texture to it.  The Copics blend well on it, but I think I was beginning to ruin the tips of my pens.  With this new paper I just have to remember to put a piece of scratch paper down under it so if the Copics bleed through I'm not ruining my work surface.

I am slowly getting better with all my blending, shading & colouring.  It did help having a coloured reference picture to look at to see how that particular person had coloured the image.  I am a very visual person & if I can see how things are done, I tend to take it in a lot better than if it where written down for me.

So do you have a favourite colour combo?  I'm loving the aqua image (first photo in the middle), but I really want to get just a few more Copics to flesh out the ones I already have so I can do more.  At the moment I have a lot of pinks that just don't seem to go together.  I need to add to them to get a good range of blend-able colours.  Plus I want to get a few more of the Cool Greys so I can do black hair & have it look more black than blue/black or dark grey.

Well lovelies thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a great week.  I'm about to get tea ready for when the clan get home from Tennis.  I'm hoping once the kidlets are fast asleep in their beds & my dh is asleep in his chair (a Monday night tradition here) I will be able to sneak downstairs & start work on a Calendar for next year using some very nice Kaisercraft papers I got today.

Boobie Love, Copics & Mojo Monday.

Hi,

Do you like the title of this post?  It made me smile, but there is genuine reason for it.  So before I explain here is my card.

Isn't that digi image just the sweetest.  I have seen her lots on Pinterest, especially the Copics pins.  So I did a little cyber stalking/sleuthing & discovered where she came from.   If you want her she is free & lives here at Saturated Canary.  I had loads & loads of fun colouring BL in.  So much so that I have coloured 11 of her.  I have been practising my Copic colouring this afternoon.  I will show you all in another post later.

So onto the challenge I'm entering this card into the latest Mojo Monday challenge here.  I decided to use some more of my much loved Basic Grey scraps.  I coloured BL's top to match the pretty green paper.  I then cut my scraps to size & there you have it.  That little bit of white card base showing is now gone.  Don't you hate when the paper is cut just a smidge out!  I used a dark brown Copic to colour it to blend in with the background.

Well it's late & I have to get up early in the morning.  Have a wonderful week & thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful photo, meh LO

Hi,

Tonight I had a go at a CAS LO.  Not too sure on it.  So thought I'd share it any way.
I think everything is too far apart from each other.  Plus I'm not happy with the way the doily turned out behind the photo.  On the plus side I really do like the stamped elements & the sprayed background.  I tried to freestyle this LO.  Usually I would follow a sketch or another LO (but I always end up changing something),  but not tonight.  I think I need the structure of a sketch to help me get started.  Tell me what you think.  Any advice is more than welcome :o).

It's a CAS of...............

Hi all,

Today's card is for two challenges & it all about CAS!
I have always had a love of CAS cards.  I've just never been very good at them, that is until this last 3 months or so.  I still think most days that I don't get it right, but every now & then I think "Yup I've nailed it!".  This card I think falls into that category ;o).  I have found (through my bloggy buddies) two wonderful CAS challenge sites.  So I've managed to combine both challenges to make this card.

Over at CAS-ual Fridays the challenge for this week is "So Torn".   Then over at CASology the theme is "Orange".

Now orange is one of those colours that I don't do a lot with.  It's not one of my most favourite colours (sorry orange).  So I had to think quite a bit about how I was going to use it.  Then this morning over coffee it came to me (thank you coffee!).  I figure this card could be used for either guys or gals.  It's just one of those kind of cards.

Thanks for popping in, I love hearing from you all.

Darth Stella

Hi there all you gorgeous people,

Tonight for your viewing pleasure I would like to present Darth Stella!
Now I think I know what you are thinking.  Where is the Star Wars reference?  How can Stella be Darth Vader?  What the heck happened to Anikin.  Has she lost her mind, yet again?  Well just mosey on to this next picture & I will explain all.
There all better now?  I got this Stella digi here.  But since I am still having "issues" with my sizing.  I made the picture a good size but the sentiment way, way, way to big.  I've done it so many times it's starting to get to me.  I forget the sentiment is in a box & think I'm sizing the actual words.  Hmmm I feel a post-it note moment coming on for the computers.  I decided since the sentiment takes up way to much space on the front of the card I am actually going to put it inside the card.  Which is something I rarely do.  Most of my cards are blank inside.  I do this so that who ever gets them can use the card as they see fit.  I even have little stickers (thanks Helen) that I put on the card bags to say this.

This card measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches.  I am experimenting with larger cards as well at the moment.  I am trying all sorts of new & wonderful things to me.  I guess I have loads of "catching up" to do.

Well lovelies, I'm off to check out a few blogs, challenges & to play some more.  Thanks to all of you that have been commenting.  It's helped to keep me motivated.

Two for Tuesday?

Hi there all you gorgeous people,

I think that I've made up for my mojo slump!  I have made 5 cards today.  I started out with the latest TSOT sketch challenge here.
Notice not a die cut/embossed or stamped image in sight.  I know I must be having an "off" ;o) day lol.  In fact today I haven't stamped or cuttlebugged anything.  Must go do something about that after this blog post I think.

This is my first card that I did for the challenge.  Using some more of my fav Holly Jolly Christmas pp by Echo Park.  The two ornaments are Decorative Toppers from docrafts.  For such a wonderful sketch I did struggle a little with it today.  I don't know why.
This is more of a "blokey" card I guess.  I really liked the different combination on this card. I really went out on a limb for this card.  Instead of ribbon I used a sentiment & then added the snowflake instead of a bow.  Hope it still qualifies for the sketch.  The snowflake reminded me of the star that the three wise men followed so that is why it's there.  Plus you can't have a Christmas card without a little bling right?

Well I'm off to play around & colour some digi images now ;o) (Cuttlebug & stamping here I come!)

PS.  I made the top 3 again for last week over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  So why don't you go over & join in the fun with me.  (No I'm nothing to do with them - other than loving playing along when I can).

Happy Birthday Dad - CAS

 Hi everyone,

Ok it's official I've gone overboard (blogging that is).  This is my third post for today, yes that means I have done three challenges.  You can either scroll down to see the other posts or go here & then here to see them if you wish.

Although I have cheated sort of with this card.  I made it over the weekend so it's a new card & it is one that is being displayed at my LSS Daisy Chain to show case the papers.

Originally uploaded by pajalu (Paula)
But it is a guy card & I haven't entered it into any other challenges, so I figure that I can enter it in the challenge. I loosely based it on a male card that I had pinned.  Although as usual I had to add some extras in the buttons.

Well I have to get Emsy organised for Tennis so had better go now.  Have a great day tomorrow.

Snow Elf - TSOT

Hi everyone,

This is my second blog post for today (amazing I know!).  If you would like to see another cute elf card please feel free to scroll down or go here.

This card is for the latest TSOT challenge here.  I really like sketches they seem to help getting the creativity going.
I just love these cute images & those PP from the wonderfully lovely & talented Alice.  I'm not completely happy with the way I coloured the snow elf, but I think it works.  I think snow is a difficult thing to colour. On this card I tried using a nestibility inside another one to make the frame around the sentiment.  I really like how it turned out.  I seem to get stuck in a rut, so mixing things up & trying new things is one way to stay fresh & helps to keep the mojo running.

Well folks I'm off to go & get my Emsy from school.  Hope you're having a wonderful day where ever you are.

Cracked Elves - Jingle Belles challenge

Hi everyone,

Well I finally did it last night!  I made a card for a challenge - woot woot.  I even broke out my Copics (almost forgot how to use them).
This is the sketch for the latest Jingle Belles challenge here.
I brought a set of Cheeky Elves from Make 'it' Crafty.  At the moment this set is on sale (bonus!).  I brought this set whilst my Mum was here on hols & have finally gotten around to using them.  This is quite a big card for me it measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches.  I think the size is perfect for this sketch, especially since I'm still trying to perfect my digital image sizes.

I hope you enjoy your day & thanks for stopping by :o)

Bold Blossoms & a few other pattern papers

Hi there,

Yup I am getting back into crafting again (phew!).  In amongst snake kid wrangling. For your viewing pleasure (I hope) I have the last Pattern Paper set that I was asked to do something with.  I am so glad that I have managed to do it justice.  I think having access to Pinterest has helped me in a HUGE way ;o).
Ok here are some more cards that I've made with the different pp packs I was given.  Starting from the top left we have:  Rose Bouquet, Bold Blossoms, Twilight Florals & another Bold Blossoms.  I am loving trying out new ideas & stretching myself to leave my comfort zone.  As I have to use supplies that can be easily gotten from Daisy Chain.  Which means my beloved stamps (mostly older Hero Arts) have to have a bit of a rest.  But don't worry Later today I'm hoping to play in some online challenge blogs.
I love this LO of Emsy!  It just seemed to flow really easily.  I used Bold Blossoms pp for this LO.  I must admit I used a sketch/LO from Pinterest as my base.  I then had to make a quick trip to Daisy Chains to just get the dark brown bazzil.  Well good intentions don't count do they?  I ended up spending just over $30 instead of $2.  The Butterfly mask was too hard to resist no pun intended (well maybe just a little).  Plus I gave in & brought a Butterfly punch,  I've been wanting one for ages.
This Post-it note & pen organiser I found on Pinterest (yes I'm an addict to that site).  It was really easy to make.  I just had to "tweak" it a little, because I can never just follow the instructions!  I added a box? for the  pen to sit in at the bottom so it stays inside the folder & I added the sleeve to keep it all together.  This is also another Bold Blossoms pp.  The base is a Bazzil Dot green.  I am going to make two more of these for Emsy's teacher & teachers' aide.  As part of their Christmas baskets.

Well that is all from me today.  I have uploaded these cards (with tags) to my Flickr photostream here.  If you want to see what I used in detail.  Have a great week ahead xoxoxoxo
